Give us new and better bus to replace the ageing bendy buses and improve road arrangements for bus travel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmJRuSsb30I&feature=youtu.be It is about time that details of planned changes to existing bus routes and any new developments were discussed with the community. There is far too much secrecy about the B-Line and not enough bus information Announcements like that recently by Jason Falinski calling for the privatisation of the B-Line have done nothing to help the NSW Government’s cause. I am aware of the criticism of Jason and Jonathan O’Dea to make announcements pretending to be at odds with the Government and I just shudder at the way in which locals are being treated by your party. We are not stupid or ready to be feed like the chooks. Such tactics are old school and not acceptable. Social media and video are a powerful tool allowing the community to deal with and debate issues in real time. As a baby boomer I am proud that my age group are still out there fighting (ageing activists). Those of us who have embraced social media and new technology are ready and willing to fight so please do something to get the truth out there. Community information sessions on the B-Line, Mona Vale Road and Ingleside are being run by people who are not listening. I have been to too many community sessions and observed the ignorance and poor attitude of those running the sessions. The Government has the hide to announce the success of these sessions when in most cases we are not being heard. I am sure that you have seen the videos of the B-Line team and noted that the people representing the Government on that team have much to learn. We are not just armed with the facts we are public transport and road users. It is about time that somebody listened. We are not anti-progress because we have given the Government’s representatives options and new ideas. Some have been taken onboard and some ignored. I have asked you previously about the impact on existing services especially express and limited stop services and I have been fobbed off. I am aware that there is potential for the Government to sell off all or part of the bus system to private interests like Transdev and Lend Lease as it is Liberal Policy to sell everything because of a blind belief that the private sector does it better – not true at all. Private is for profit and shareholders and taking short cuts for a quick windfall. The true entrepreneurs are long gone. The public sector is a lot smarter these days and can deliver without seeking a profit. What happened to the philosophy that efficient public transport while not necessarily making a profit, is about getting cars off the road, reducing pollution and saving the environment. Less road congestion means less pollution. Perhaps you could also explain why the Greater Sydney Commission, Sydney North district Draft Report carries the following statement about objectives for Mona Vale. What exactly does leveraging a bus stop mean? This appears to be a poor use of words. Maybe it has been borrowed from Pittwater Council’s Mona Vale Place Plan and reworded.
The NSW Government and its B-Line team have failed the community on so many counts:
The ball is in your court as our local Member of Parliament. Improve the service but don’t waste money on window dressing the matter. I of course look forward to your response. Name Not Published for Privacy Reasons Mona Vale NSW 2103
