NARRABEEN LAGOON AQUATIC BOARDWALK
Does everyone know about this aquatic boardwalk?
Personally we think it will destroy the appearance of the foreshore of the lagoon forever.
We also understand Rob Stokes is supporting this as it will allow for the widening of the Wakehurst Parkway at this location. There must be a better way to address this issue. Can the existing walkway be moved and kept onshore. Maybe this would involve filling in part of the shore line with landfill, but at least the shore line could be revegetated and not have this galvanised metal monolithic structure on poles rising like the phoenix out of the water.

quote from our administrator dick persson
DICK PERSSON highlighted the Mona Vale Place Plan as one of the bigger frustrations.
“I don’t think we have made any mistakes, but obviously I hadn’t appreciated the extent to which some people in the old Pittwater council area would try to hijack an initiative like the place plan,” he said.
He argued it was used as an anti-amalgamation tool to destabilise the council.

The Northern Beaches Council signed off on this, and local MP Rob Stokes refused to protect Pittwater’s environment despite calls from many constituents. The Greater Sydney Commission is Stokes’ baby and it’s becoming a gorilla - it says “leverage the Mona Vale B-Line stop to facilitate intensification of uses in the centre.” The B-Line is the spearhead for intensive high-rise development and it’s coming to Mona Vale - Newport and Avalon will be next. All of this is Rob Stokes’ creation, aided and abetted by the administrators that devised the discredited Mona Vale Place Plan. Poor fellow my country.

PUBLIC RALLY 27 NOVEMBER 2016 and Northern Beaches Council Administrator DICK PERSSON - HIS OWN PERSSON ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROS0xNbc0gI&feature=em-subs_digest
THE PUBLIC PROTEST RALLY
HELD 27 NOVEMBER 2016
WAS A HUGE SUCCESS
A very strong message was sent at the protest rally to the Administrator Dick Persson, The Northern Beaches Council and the 2017 incoming Elected Council - BACK OFF MONA VALE.
Six resident groups manned a table each with hand outs, flyers, petitions being signed, stickers and other promotional material.
One stack of flyers we know of consisted of 400 sheets and they all went well before the end of the day and people still wanted more.
This tells us that we had over 400 people attend the Mona Vale Place Plan Protest Rally.
People are angry, very angry and that was made loud and clear on the day.
About 20 people grabbed the megaphone to express their strong opinion.
The Pittwater Community sent a very strong message to the Administrator and Northern Beaches Council, "we are up in arms over this ridiculous place plan and it must be scrapped" not merely withdrawn from public exhibition.
About 20 people grabbed the megaphone to express their strong opinion.
The Pittwater Community sent a very strong message to the Administrator and Northern Beaches Council, "we are up in arms over this ridiculous place plan and it must be scrapped" not merely withdrawn from public exhibition.
Many shouted out "Where's Rob Stokes"? "Why isn't he here"?
Two large balloons filled with helium were tied off at the 16.5 metre proposed building height for the Place Plan's built vision for Village Park. The balloons at the Pittwater Road and Park Street frontages showed clearly what a preposterous height this is. The visual enclosure effect, loss of light, overshadowing and overlooking from people in those buildings would be absurd.
"Leave Mona Vale alone. there's nothing wrong with the way it is now, don't try and fix something that ain't broke" are comments we heard on the day.
Nearly 200 "Opinion Sheets" were filled in during the protest rally.
Two statements were on the sheet and tick boxes for Agree / Disagree:-
1) The Mona Vale Place Plan was completely out of character with the environment, ambience and community village style of Mona Vale and Pittwater which is a small community 35km from the city. We don't want to become another Manly.
2) This plan was a plan for developers to make a quick profit and would have left Pittwater grossly degraded. We have too much traffic now and this plan would have caused traffic gridlock. Please stop fake consultation and listen to the people.
People agreed with these statements.
Further there was the option of writing a comment on the sheet and many did. Some of those are included here:-
* Dick Persson should NOT be involved in such radical changes to Pittwater and Mona Vale in particular.
* Bus and car transport is to inefficient for the current population.
* The plan gobbles more green places and injects more overdevelopment in its place.
* Future needs are better roads, more open spaces, light public transport and sustainable population.
* Plan is inappropriate, not sensitive to history and is greedy.
* Plan hasn't listened to the will of the community and does NOT reflect the will of the community.
* Let the people elect the Council to do the planning of our beautiful area...... We don't want to be another Dee Why ! !

MONA VALE PLACE PLAN
"HOME TRUTHS"
"HOME TRUTHS"
TRUTH 1 - The Mona Vale Place Plan is possibly the most incompetent planning scheme in local government history - the Baird Government has nothing to do with it.
TRUTH 2 - The Mona Vale Plan hasn't been "scrapped", "axed", “pulled”, “written off”, “abandoned" or amended into a different form.
TRUTH 3 - Council has not resolved to axe the plan, defer the Place Plan for a new elected Council to determine or to amend it in response to community
concerns.
TRUTH 4 - The Place Plan is deficient on a number of levels - not only height of
buildings. Concerns about overdevelopment and population aren't the only
issues.

Residents rally to voice fears for suburbs’ development in withdrawn proposals
John Morcombe, Manly Daily
November 28, 2016 3:56pm
A RALLY against the Mona Vale Place Plan on Sunday confirmed the opposition of residents to the plan after its withdrawal by Northern Beaches Council administrator Dick Persson.
Although the Mona Vale Residents Association said it had decided not to support the draft Mona Vale “in any shape or form”, the most concerning aspect was of proposed four and six-storey developments in parts of Mona Vale.
Other residents’ groups feared the plan could lead to increased development north of Mona Vale.
On Sunday several hundred people gathered in Village Park to voice their continued opposition to the draft Mona Vale Place Plan.
Mona Vale Residents Association president Marcia Rackham said residents did not want their suburbs to become like Manly.
“Many residents had come from the inner city to live in the quieter, beautiful surroundings of Pittwater and were horrified at what the council had proposed,” she said
“However, it was clear that even though the Mona Vale Place Plan has been withdrawn in its current form, there remains a strong element of distrust following the forced council amalgamation contrary to the will of the great majority of Pittwater people.
“The result is an unelected council with no representation until September 2017 that residents fear is being used to push through the State Government’s program of overpopulation and overdevelopment. Disappointment was expressed in local member and Planning Minister Rob Stokes.”

Mona Vale Place Plan scrapped by Northern Beaches Council after community backlash !!!!
NO - THE MONA VALE PLACE PLAN
HAS NOT BEEN SCRAPPED AT ALL.
Update 23 November 2016
The Place Plan being scrapped was headline news of the Manly Daily article on line 18 November and in newspaper print 19 November.
After the announcement most of the objectors were very happy with the apparent result and said they may now not attend the protest rally and even questioned its need to go ahead.
Strong opinion now is that the Administrator Dick Persson made the calculated and opportunistic timed announcement to take the wind out of the sails for the Public Rally.
From the Northern Beaches Council meeting last night 22 November 2016 information is that the Place Plan is still very much alive and kicking and can be reactivated at any time.
The exhibition period has simply been terminated ahead of the advertised deadline of 16 December 2016, no doubt to prevent people making any further submissions.
The reactivation of the Place Plan is now a concern in that this could easily happen prior to the Council Elections in September 2017.
The prospective 15 new Councillors to elected September 2017 need to make the Mona Vale Place Plan their running ticket so that they make their views known and in their new role they can support the community regarding rejection of the Plan and be elected on this platform.
This latest development makes the Public Rally Sunday 27 November 2016 starting 11am at Village Park Mona Vale even more important than ever to counteract Northern Beaches Council's apparent ever reducing transparency highlighted by the fact that on the night of the Council meeting when the Administrator dealt with the Mona Vale Place Plan 22 November Live Streaming was cancelled and all other online access to video recordings of other Council meetings was removed from the Council Website.

uestions are being asked - "Who is Dale Cohen"? Who does he represent in the Mona Vale Place Plan? Maybe the answer is in the fact that Dale Cohen did accompany The General Manager Mark Ferguson, The Mayor Jacqueline Townsend and Pittwater Council Planning and Assessment Manager Andrew Pigott to the Future Cities Program which was a 7 day Study Tour to the United States.
Dale's LinkedIn page also states he was a client of 4 Pittwater Council staff in May 2016.

PITTWATER - CALL TO ARMS :BOB GRACE
Watch Ex Pittwater Councillor Bob Grace's video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv72pF7uaTU
Some quotes from Bob Grace in the video are:-
The Mona Vale Place Plan is a total sellout of all Pittwater values.
Pittwater is what it is because it has wonderful open spaces, wonderful parks where the people can go and have leisure.
The strategy of this Council is to develop the Park Precinct and open spaces.
Why any government would act in the way to make Pittwater lose its identity.
We do not need 6 storeys in Mona Vale !
We do not need development of the Park Precinct or Open Space !
We do not need any reduction in car spaces !
We do not need apartments in industrial zones – this must be protected for job creation !
We do not need this Council’s vision for Mona Vale !
We do not need to be more like Manly !
We do not need nightlife to be vibrant !
We want to remain as we are !
Reduced parking spaces for cars will mean loss of accessibility to the area !
Mona Vale must protect its businesses, protect its commercial area !
We must do something now, everyone must come out and say something and protest and agitate !
This is not a good plan, it must go back on public exhibition with the delusion of all these matters, then let the people decide. It must be real community consultation if this is to happen !
This Place Plan should not be finalised by the Administrator !
It must be finalised by an Elected Council !
THE ADMINISTRATOR MUST NOT PROGRESS THE MONA VALE PLACE PLAN UNTIL LOCAL COUNCILLORS ARE ELECTED.
Increase in height from 13 metres to 23 metres can allow 7 storey development.
The decision on the Mona Vale Place Plan must not be moved forward by the Administrator, it must be left to the democratic process of a fully elected Council, not decided on by just 1 person.
