February 2017 Transport for NSW released the 67 page Determination Report. A number of concerns become apparent. TfNSW State:- There has been ongoing consultation with the community, Northern Beaches Council (and the former Pittwater Council) and external stakeholders. Our Comment No consultation has occurred regarding the loss of the grass mounds and 21 mature trees in Village Park. The Approval Process What's potentially wrong with the above??? Here's a clue:-
Absolutely no conflict in the above is there ??? The Transport for NSW REF has listed Objection Issues Raised by Community Objection Issue There is no shelter at the northbound bus stop. There is no covered shelter connectivity to the shopping village and commuters will get wet. At the current Pittwater / Waratah main bus stop commuters can use the shop awnings for cover. TfNSW Response The bus stop is around 100 metres to southern shop awnings and 150 metres to northern shop awnings, or approximately one to two minutes’ walk. Our Comment 100 and 150 meters respectively in the cold wet and dark days in winter or the hot blistering days of summer is a long way, especially for the elderly or mums with prams getting wet when it rains or burnt by the summer sun. The response by Transport for NSW is also discriminatory and very closed minded as it does not consider the additional adverse amenity of this distance that will be encountered by commuters in wheel chairs. Objection Issue There is no need to delete the current Pittwater / Waratah main bus stop. TfNSW Response Around 100 metres kerbside space is required to co-locate local and B-Line services, which is not achievable along the existing section. Our Comment The included Google Earth image below shows 100 metres distance is easily achievable along Pittwater Rd between Waratah St and Mona Vale Rd to accommodate the B-Line bus stop Objection Issue The image on the B-Line Mona Vale website page has an artist’s impression of the Village Park stop which is misleading. It shows the bus shelter and footpath installed but with Village Park as is. It doesn’t show removal of the 21 trees and the berms or the encroachment into green space. Our Comment The artists impression is still on the TfNSW website page for Mona Vale and is still giving the casual observer a false and misleading indication of the true impact of what is proposed. The indented bus stop IS NOT going to be at the location shown in the Transport for NSW artist impression. It is to be approximately 8 metres further away from the kerb than is indicated and will see the loss of the 21 established trees and grass mounds. Why is Transport for NSW deliberately leaving this false and misleading artists impression on their website when numerous complaints have been lodged to them about this?
