Northern Beaches Council website:- "Bringing Vibrancy to Pittwater's Town and Village Centres" "Enliven Pittwater is an activation strategy designed to improve the vibrancy of village centres across Pittwater. Enliven will use technology, social, cultural and retail activities to create a buzz in our villages. Don’t be surprised to find music, art, pop-up bars, picnics and special retail events happening in Mona Vale, Newport and Avalon in the coming months"! See Enliven Summit Program 2014

Archisoul Architechs website:- http://www.archisoul.com.au/enliven-pittwater/ "In September, Archisoul was invited to participate in a Pittwater Council event called ‘Enliven Pittwater’. Jo was part of a panel of keynote speakers from government, academia and private enterprise. Enliven Pittwater set out to identify the challenges, opportunities and trends faced by community and business in metro village centres. The focus of Enliven is to plan and create vibrant, dynamic village centres that are strong socially, culturally and economically". ........................................................................................................................ Apparently the "Enliven Pittwater" community engagement project and associated Draft Mona Vale Place Plan are a type of pilot or model likely to be adopted or referred to somehow in the next round of changes to the NSW Planning Legislation - currently under preparation. The US inspired "Community Engagement" and "Place Planning" model adopted by the Former Pittwater Council (and now Northern Beaches Council) is tipped to replace current Urban planning (including strategic planning framework including population, housing and jobs targets) & Public Participation and as far as we can tell the new approach is fully supported by Rob Stokes as Minister for Planning - seen as the Great Leap Forward in planning and associated local population growth led economic and business development. The Draft Mona Vale Place Plan seems to be supported by a well organized "Growth Lobby".
